Head Falconer: My name is Gerard Sulter and have been a raptor enthusiast from a very young age. My passion for Raptors began when I was just ten years of age when I notified our neighbours I was building an aviary for a golden eagle!!
Of course this was a dream… but hoped it would become a reality!! To which worried my parents when the neighbours promptly informed them of my plans!!
Realising that this was a bit enthusiastic I decided to research, gathering as much information and knowledge, attending many festivals, reading book after book absorbing every little ounce of advice, wisdom and knowledge that would help me realise my dreams of one day becoming a Falconer.
This became a reality later in life when I knew I could offer the time, patience and care that all raptors require.
It opened such a wonderful insight into such a popular interest and I have been blessed to meet many like minded people who equally share my passion for these wonderful creatures. My enthusiasm has been shared with my wife Gemma who is a very active part of the team and to our three children who are very fortunate to be growing up in the company of raptors, respecting them and learning about this fascinating, ancient pastime which is falconry.
Our aim at East Sussex Falconry is to introduce you to this magnificent pastime in beautiful locations, to share with you our passion for raptors and above all make your hands on experience a time to remember. With interaction with our birds and lot’s of hands on time… with a little learning on the way too.
